Credo Reference is an online reference library that provides access to
a selection of over 348 reference books. Credo Reference includes encyclopedias,
dictionaries, thesauri, books of quotations, handbooks and a range of

Knovel provides a one-stop source for finding answers to science and engineering
questions. The Knovel database contains some of the leading engineering
reference handbooks, databases, and conference proceedings. Some of the
subject areas covered are: adhesives, chemistry, chemical engineering,
environmental engineering, concrete, construction, asphalt, food science,
mechanical engineering, semiconductors, electronics, textiles, safety,
plastics and surface engineering. Some of the standard reference texts
included are Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook, Lange's Handbook of
Chemistry, Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, and Machinery's
Handbook. Knovel is a provider of aggregated engineering and applied science
data that utilizes proprietary tabular analysis tools. The content of

A collection of 10,000+ online books searchable by title, author, subject,
keyword, publisher, or year. Books can be previewed for 15 minute intervals
or checked out for 24 hours. You will need to establish a personal account
to check out a book. Follow the instructions under "create an account"
at the top of the NetLibrary homepage. As these titles are included in
the Stout Library Catalog with a link to the full text book, you may also

This collection includes technical books and manuals and is very strong
in information technology subjects. Search across multiple books simultaneously,
which allows the collection of books to be searched as a database rather
than as a single book. - Digital Book Index - Provides free access to more than 80,000 titles records from both commercial and non-commercial publishers, universities and private sites. Titles range from the Ancient Agriculture to Space Flight. Includes more than 2000 Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Thesauri, Glossaries, Bibliographies, Timelines, Chronologies, and Literary Histories.
- Free Web E-Books - This directory offers annotated links for electronic book information in the categories of Free E-book Sites, Free Personal Digital Assistant [PDA] Sites, Commercial Sites, and E-book Reader Software. Also includes tips for reading e-books online, searching for text in e-books, and saving e-books. Provided by the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library (CA).
- Online Books Page - The Online Books Page is a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. It also aims to encourage the development of such online books, for the benefit and edification of all. Lists over 25,000 free books on the Web. The site is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Library.
- Project Gutenberg Provides over 20,000 free electronic books, mainly "older literary works that are in the public domain in the United States." Books are classified as "light literature" ("Alice in Wonderland," "Peter Pan"), "heavy literature" (the Bible, "Moby Dick," works by Shakespeare), and reference works. Formats include audiobooks, recorded music, moving pictures and digitized sheet music.
- Turning the Pages - This is a collection of 15 digitized books from the British Library including works by William Blake and Leonardo da Vinci. Turning the Pages electronically mimics the way a researcher would examine a book. Turning the Pages captures the real look of each book, cover and all. The site runs on Microsoft Vista, with other operating systems Adobe Shockwave is required.
